DEO prohibits defacement of public properties
AALO, Apr 25: West Siang District Election Officer (DEO) M K Sahoo, in an order has prohibited defacement of public properties, wall writing, pasting of posters/papers or defacement in any other form and erecting/displaying cutouts, hoardings, banners, flags on any Government premise including civil structures.
It also prohibited unauthorized campaigning and misuse of vehicles.
The district authority would take strict action against the violators of the order. DIPRO
Licence holders urged to deposit fire arms
Daporijo DIPRO adds: In view of the ensuing Panchayat Election 2013, the District Magistrate of Upper Subansiri district has asked all fire arms licence holders of the district to deposit all types of fire arms under their possession to police stations in their circles by May 10 and the arms so deposited will be released after the completion of the election.
In another order, the District Magistrate under Section 144 Cr.P.C. has prohibited the carrying of lethal weapons such as fire arms, swords, bow and arrow, explosive materials and any other weapon with power to inflict bodily injury in the town, villages and polling stations from April 28 till further order.
Farmers training under NAIP
ITANAGAR, Apr 25: A training cum distribution of different inputs such as seedlings, silpaulin, Knapsack, polyfilm was organized by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Basar under National Agricultural Innovative Project (NAIP) at Chhota Rupak on April 23.
The scientists and subject matter specialists from ICAR and KVK West Siang, Basar delivered lecture and demonstrated on cultivation practices, pest and disease management in Khasi Mandarin, Banana, Maize and vegetables. Thorough interaction was also organized with the farmers and discussed in details about low cost polyhouse and jalkund (water harvesting structure).
The team also distributed 2000 seedlings of Khasi Mandarin, 200 Banana saplings,
two silpaulin for constructing jalkund (water harvesting structure), six Knapsack
Sprayers, one Polyfilm for constructing the low cost polyhouse and 70 packets of
vegetable kits containing bhindi, pumpkin, sponge gourd, Sweet gourd, Ridge Gourd
and Cucumber, 70 packets of maize seeds (HQPM-

NSS RGU unit organizes Spl Camp

IDEA observes World Malaria Day
ITANAGAR, Apr 25: Itanagar Diocesan Empowerment Association (IDEA) in collaboration with District Vector Borne Disease Control programme (DVBDCP) observed World Malaria Day with the theme “Invest in the future; defeat malaria” at community hall at Balijan today. The preventive and curative methods of malaria were highlighted through mass rally with placards and banner, role play, quiz competition and various sessions on malaria taken by Tatung Tayang, Zonal malaria Officer of papumpare district and Dr. Taw Kaku, Medical officer in charge of CHC.
While focusing on the theme, the ZMO informed public to focus on preventive aspects such as sleep always under impregnated mosquito net, allow DDT to be sprayed inside of every house and draining out all logged water around the house.
The officials of NVBDCP and best performing field level staffs were felicitated with mementos by the Deputy Director of IDEA, Sr. Licy for their continuous support to implement intensified malaria control programme in the district.

Women SHG repairs cattle bridge at GTC

PASIGHAT, Apr 25: The members of Angun Bedang Self Help Group (SHG) on Wednesday rendered social service by replacing a cattle bridge at the entrance of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at GTC near Pasighat town.

Kaying IB reeling under power outages

ITANAGAR, Apr 25: For the state like Arunachal Pradesh which is struggling for infrastructure development, it is sad situation when one sees existing infrastructure being misused by the concern authorities.
The inspection bungalow of Kaying under West Siang district is one such example. The IB which was inaugurated by former CM P K Thungon in the year 1976 does not have electricity facility causing difficulties to the visitors.
As per the report, the power line was disconnected by power department as the authorities failed to pay the electricity bill.

‘Rafting can become popular adventure sports’
Final leg of white water rafting gets underway
ITANAGAR, Apr 25: The third and final leg of white water rafting expedition cum recee organized by Arunachal Adventure Association in collaboration with department of tourism, government of Arunachal Pradesh began on 23rd of this month from Mechuka town which is also popularly known as Menchuka. The picturesque Yargap Chu River which flows through middle of Mechuka (Menchuka) town was the venue for the flagging in ceremony. The team will carry out expedition cum recee from Menchuka to till Pasighat passing through rivers Siyom (Yomgo) and Siang.
The additional deputy commissioner of Mechuka Gepak Poyom flagged off the rafting team.
Speaking on occasion ADC Poyom urged department of tourism to organize such event annually so that river rafting can become very popular adventure sports in the state. ADC himself joined the team and for half an hour he was in the boat rafting along with team. He said it was his maiden experience of river rafting and he fully enjoyed the experience. However the team had to abandon the expedition after few kilometres from Mechuka. The rough and turbulent water along with dangerous nature of river made it impossible for them to continue the expedition. Later they put camp at Thumbin village. Next day, the team started expedition from Thumbin village on the river Siyom which is known as Yargap Chu at Mechuka.
Keep strict vigil on refugees, AAPSU to DA
ITANAGAR, Apr 25: The nomination filed by a Tibetan refugee to contest in the ensuing Panchayat election from INC ticket has been rejected by West Kameng district authority after All Arunachal Pradesh Students’ Union (AAPSU) objected to his candidature, according to an AAPSU release.
AAPSU deputed a team to West Kameng on request of the district students’ union and people where the visiting team was informed that a Tibetan refugee had filed nomination to contest in the election from Sera Anchal Segment from INC ticket. After confirmation of the allegation, AAPSU brought the matter to the notice of the DC and returning officer and demanded immediate cancellation of candidature of the candidate.
AAPSU also urged the district administration to keep strict vigil on refugee related issue and asked all the Tibetan and Bhutanese refugees to get refugee Card from the authority concerned and move to their designated camps.
AAPSU also requested all the political parties to be very careful while selecting and endorsing candidates in near future and check all records properly before making them their party members.
It also urged the district administration to cancel all the ST and Permanent Resident Certificates (PRCs) issued to non APST and refugees.

Two Congress nominees for single ASM seat

PASIGHAT, Apr 25: The incident of filing nomination papers by two candidates nominated by Indian National Congress (INC) for a single Anchal Samity seat at Sigar under Mebo Anchal block has surprised everybody, including the election officials as well as BJP workers in East Siang district.
Confirming the dual nomination filed by the ruling party, the Returning Officer of Mebo Anchal Block informed that one Nangku Yirang and Akin Tayeng have filed nomination for Sigar Anchal seat from INC ticket. Further, Nangku Yirang submitted another nomination paper as Independent Candidate in the same post. Another independent candidate for the seat is Anang Tayeng.
The incident, in fact is due to internal rift ensued in the ruling party in Mebo

World Malaria Day
Although Arunachal Pradesh has witnessed sporadic public outrage regarding law and order, there is reason to be happy as there is a decreasing trend in malarial death for last few years.
Hopefully, the world has also reportedly made major progress in the fight against Malaria over the last decade. According to a report, since 2000, malaria mortality rates have fallen by more than 25 per cent, and 50 of the 99 countries with ongoing transmission are now on track to meet the 2015 World Health Assembly target of reducing incidence rates by more than 75 per cent.

In fact, the Forest Department in Arunachal must ensure widespread publicity to the opportunities available in bamboo plantation and make available necessary incentives and resources for implementation.

Taba Ajum's article 'why should poor suffer at the expense of rich......' published
in your daily on 19.04.13 highlighted how government of Arunachal Pradesh caused
201.05 crores budget deficit for the financial year 2012-
One Tamuk Ali's letter to editor, 'confusing recruitment process' on 20.04.13 clearly brought into light how the department of tax and excise, government of Arunachal Pradesh has befooled and is befooling the entire people of Arunachal Pradesh.
An article by your correspondent, ''petitioner dismayed as APIC delaying return of hearing'' dated 22.04.13 displayed how APIC and CIC defied court's order and legal obligations.
Now the unfortunate part is that no NGO or pressure group has taken up the issue while the matter unveiled is of highest concern for the general public. Another interesting observation is that the allegedly corrupt authorities are unfazed. By remaining silent they are either accepting what is alleged or they think they are not accountable to the people of this state.
And the most interesting part is that the general public is apparently not miffed by the cheat, the loot, the exploitation etc carried out to them by the government and its department and hence condones all such activities. By being silent spectators, the general public and various pressure groups are making those critics who dare to share callous activities of various authorities, redundant.
I don't know how many years Arunachal would take to wake itself up, but as of now, I have a state where a wild cobra makes more news than 201.05 budget deficit or other unfortunate stories cited above.

Don't let god stand in queue
Dear Editor,
I have heard and seen people looking and standing around and causing traffic jams at 6km near M.M Toyota show room, just to have a glimpse of a king cobra snake. It is a well come steps as some nature lovers had requested not to throw stone at the snake, which shows a development to nature care and civilized culture. I also agree and request the same to all the citizens, let the snake live at its own and peacefully. Standing nearby, makes disturbance to the snake as well as it creates unnecessary traffic jams. But till date I have not seen the snake, but instead I have seen Red flag with sign in the said place. If I am not wrong, I think I have seen this sign and flag in temples. It seems to be an initiative to construct a temple. As far I am concern such flag and sign are not for the safety of snakes. If you really want to have a real glimpse of the snake then have a deeply look at the said side and you will understand. My request is to the administrators please do not allot plot of land to GODS for they already have enough plots in heaven. If one GOD is allotted then surely other GODS will be jealous and make a demand for the same which would disturb the equilibrium of peace.
